Volcano hike/lava fields

We headed to Arenal volcano for a hike and to see forest succession in action.  The kids got to hike up to a large lava filed from the 1968 eruption.  We walked through areas that were cleared by the 1968 eruption and Mario talked about what it was like during the continued eruptions up until around 2010.  The views were amazing and the kids had a once in a lifetime opportunity to see some of the beauty that is Costa Rica.

 Matt is ready to go.

Mario is talking with the kids about the history of this volcano.

We are all about to start off on a nice "easy" hike up to the lava fields.
